Patna (Patliputra)


Patna is the capital of Bihar.It is also known by its old name Patliputra, was the capital of ancient state Magadh. Many tourist places in Patna like Golghar,Eco park, Planeterium, Zoo,Hanuman Mandir etc.In old Patna,(now called Patna City) the tenth and last Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh was born. Maharaj Ranjit Singh (First king of Sikh empire) built a Gurudwara here - Takht Sri Patna Sahib (22th Dec'1666).

Gaya- Way to Nirvana


Gaya is the ancient city in Hindu ritual.All Hindu's soul get moksha from here after taking pind daan from their ancestors.Another near by city is Bodhgaya - Land of Nirvana where Prince Gautama attained enlightenment, became the Buddha. The great religion of Buddhism was born here.

Nalanda


Nalanda University, was the ancient learning center of world. It is situated around 75 kilometer southeast from Patna.

Pawapuri


Pawapuri, a holy place for the Jains- Lord Mahavir attained nirvana (death) here in 500 BC.it is also called Apapuri , situated 8 kms from BiharSharif, 31 kms from Rajgir and 87 km from Patna by road.

Rajgir


Rajgir - Old name Rajagriha, was the ancient capital of Magadha, Chinees traveller Fa Hien�s and Hieun Tsang�s mention in his books.It is located in the Indian state of Bihar about 60 km southeast of the capital Patna. The main attractions for today�s traveler are the 5th century BCE remains of places associated with the Buddha. The Gridhrakuta Hill (Vulture Peak) is where Mahatma Buddha delivered his �sermons on the mount� and where he proselytised King Bimbisara.

The Buddha is believed to have frequented Venuvan, the tranquil bamboo grove near the hot springs. The Saptaparni Cave nearby is a 1,000-step climb up from the hot springs. This is where the first Buddhist Council was held, following the Buddha�s passing.

A Vishwa Shanti Stupa, built by the Japanese, today stands on Gridhrakuta Hill, accessed by a 7-minute ropeway ride.

Vaishali


Vaishali, Bihar was the first place in the world where democracy is introduced.It is the birth place of Lord Mahavira - founder of Jainism. King Ashoka buit a pillar now called Lion pillar in the honor of Lord Buddha Visit.

Sonepur


Sonepur - famous for biggest animal fair in Asia pacific. You can find numerous variety of every animal.It is held on Kartik Poornima (the full moon day) in November month. It is also called Harihar Kshetra Mela .This place is also realted to epic Ramayana - it is said that while going in the swayambar of Sita Mata, Lord Rama built a temple here and perform puja.

Another saying about legend of Gajendhra Moksha, king Indrayamuna and the Gandharva chief Huhu, were turned into an elephant and a crocodile respectively by sages Agasthya and Dewala muni. One day the elephant's leg was caught by the crocodile. The elephant tried to free himself of the hold for many years but couldn�t do so. Finally he prayed to Lord Vishnu to save him. Lord Vishnu freed the elephant from crocodile hold by cutting him with his Chakra. At that time both of them were also released from the curse of the sage and Lord Vishnu took the gajendra with himself to vaikuntha.

Munger


Munger is also an ancient city of Bihar. East India company,Bengal Nawab Mir kasim shifted his office here from Bengal. He established a gun factory here to fight with British.Also many ancient connection here from epic Ramayana & Mahabharta. Munger is also famous in world for its Yoga center.

Bhagalpur


Bhagalpur also know as Silk city.It is situated beautifully on the bank of river Ganga.Ancient world famous Vikramshila University was situated here.

Deoghar-Basukinath


DeoGhar as the name explains - residence of God & Goddess. It is the land of Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, Ravana (Ramayan) went to Mount Kailash and prayed to Lord Shiva, who gave him a Jyotirlinga to take to his land, with the promise not to place the lingam any where else. In case that happened, the lingam would remain fixed on that spot forever. The Gods, who were very unhappy at the prospect of the divine lingam being established in the enemy kingdom, which would render them powerless against their adversary, worked a trick on Ravana. Ravana mistakenly handed over that lingam to a brahmin, who grounded it at Deoghar. Ravana did his best to uproot it but beyond breaking the tip he was unsuccessful. In deep remorse, he used to come to this place everyday and worship the lingam by offering water from the Ganges.The temple has almost all god & godesses and whole temple is built on a single rock. During the month of 'Sawan' people from across the country come to offer ganga jal to the divine Shiva ling.

Sasaram - Rohtas


Sasaram is an ancient city and it is believed that a demon named 'Sahastrabahu' lived around here from the age of 'Ramayana'. Sahastrabahu was killed by Parsuram. Earlier the name of the city was Sahasram, initials of Sahasrabahu and Parsuram. Sasaram is also famous for being the birthplace of Afghan king Sher Shah Suri who ruled in Delhi. It has a 122 ft high red sandstone tomb of Sher Shah Suri built in the Indo-Afghan style which stands in the middle of an artificial lake.The two waterfalls which add to sasaram's scenic beauty are the Manjhar Kund and Dhua Kund. A fair is organised at these places every year after a day of Raksha Bandhan. These two water falls has capacity to generate 50-100 MW of electricity if utilized properly. Sasaram is also famous for Stone Chips and Stone mining industries.

Sasaram is also famous for Maa Tara Chandi Temple (where a fantabulous crowd can be always observed in SHRAWAN month or in DUSSEHARA )
